About project

In the LIFE in Salt Marshes project, we aim to restore over 500 hectares of wetlands in southern Moravia, home to rare salt-tolerant plants in the past and present. We are creating a diverse mosaic of vegetation that serves as a habitat for various insects, amphibians, and birds. To achieve this, we use traditional farming practices like cattle grazing and carefully timed mowing, alongside innovative methods such as planting semi-parasitic plants to curb the growth of invasive species.

We work closely with local communities, residents, volunteers, farmers, and livestock breeders to establish sustainable, long-term care for these ecologically significant protected areas recognized at the European level.
