Restoration and Stabilization of 20 ha of the Inland Salt Meadows
Inland salt meadows, as well as other types of inland salt marshes, are among the most endagered types of wetlands across all Europe. That is why they are on the list of the European priority habitats and immediate action and attention is required for their survival. All eight of the project sites include remnants of the inland salt meadows or at least have a past record of the their presence. It is a well-known fact, that the seeds of the species typical of salt meadows can survive in the soil for decades and can succesfully germinate and grow after a suitable management (eg. topsoil removal). We aim to restore the vegetation of the inland salt meadows at least on the area of 20 ha within the 506 ha of the project sites.
