SAC Hevlínské jezero
Land use: 100 % nature conservation
Hevlínské jezero was chosen as a project site for its position in southern Moravia in floodplain of Černá strouha
river, presence of basal and diagnostic plant species of the 1340* priority habitat inland salt meadows and presence of the target animal species, european fire-bellied frog Bombina bombina and moor frog Rana arvalis. Occurrence of the target bird species, common redshank Tringa totanus and garganey Spatula querquedula, has been recorded in the vicinity. Occurrence of the target plant species, Cirsium brachycephallum, within 3 km from the project site.
At this site, we are working to clear the most valuable areas of overgrown woody plants and to introduce cattle grazing in collaboration with local farmers. Grazing will help maintain a diverse mosaic of vegetation, create suitable habitats for salt-tolerant plants, and provide shallow, sun-warmed shorelines for amphibians. In 2025, earthworks are scheduled here as part of the OPŽP project, which we will follow up with the care described above.
