SAC Trkmanec - Rybníčky
Land use: 100 % nature conservation
Trkmanec - Rybníčky was chosen as a project site for its position in southern Moravia in floodplain of Trkmanka
river, presence of basal and diagnostic plant species of the 1340* priority habitat inland salt meadows, presence of
target plant species Cirsium brachycephalum, and target animal species: european fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina), common redshank (Tringa totanus), and garganey (Spatula querquedula).
At this site, we aim to introduce controlled, non-intensive grazing by large livestock, ideally once again by Hungarian Grey cattle, which will help thin out dense stands of reeds and other expansive or invasive plants. This approach will create a mosaic of vegetation suitable for many protected species of birds, amphibians, and insects. If necessary, grazing will be combined with mowing and the removal of biomass.
